Visualising Ionising Radiation in a Cloud Chamber
At the beginning of the workshop “Visualising Ionising Radiation in a Cloud Chamber”, we will view the Cosmic Rain installation by Tilen Sepič, in which muons passing through the room trigger light and sound reactions. We will then also view the installation Landscape Machines by Erich Berger, which investigates radioactivity and landscapes on the example of Žirovski Vrh uranium mine and includes a working cloud chamber. After learning about muons and other types of ionising radiation, we will work together to build a cloud chamber. The chamber will allow us to see the flybys and decays of these high-energy particles as nebulae and differentiate between muons, alpha particles, electrons and positrons.
